Drivetrain Cleaning & Waxing Services

Immersing your bike chain in hot wax for lubrication replaces using an oil based lubricant or a liquid wax with a clean, dry system that is designed to reduce contamination, lower chain wear and make ongoing maintenance simpler.

In short, it means:

• A cleaner drivetrain

  • A hot waxed chain keeps your drivetrain 100% clean. And the reason why is simple: Oil & liquid wax are wet & sticky so it attracts dirt. Hot wax is completely dry and repels dirt.

• A smoother (and faster) drivetrain

  • Since your chain stays clean during your ride, it has way less friction. You won't have to deal with thick, grinding oil-pastes slowing you down. The further you ride and the dirtier the conditions, the more watts you save. 

• Increased chain longevity

  • Hot waxing your chain can extend its lifespan by up to three or four times. Imagine the money you'll save on chains. By waxing it regularly, e.g. every 500-800 km, you ensure it stays in top condition for longer.

Please note that chain condition matters

• Waxing works best when starting with a new chain or one with minimal wear.

• Chains, cassettes and chain rings wear together over time, so installing a new chain on a worn cassette can sometimes cause skipping under load.

• I will always check chain wear and advise honestly if replacement is the better route.

• For on-going maintenance of a waxed chain, it typically needs attention every 500-800 km depending on the weather conditions and where you ride.
